Dragged from Earth through a tunnel of leaves, 17-year-old Zee finds himself in a surreal and frightening black-and-white world. His girlfriend, Maritza, is held hostage and Zee is told if he wants to see her again, he must lead a quest to release the hidden colours of Aggracore.
To succeed, Zee has to complete 11 tasks in 11 different lands. In each land he will find one of his mates to help. But from the moment the quest begins, time is running out. With over 50 bizarre lands to cross, Zee and his friends plunge headlong into danger.
Their journey is complicated by love, death and a turmoil of emotions. Ever-present are the predatory and sinister Gnomonites. They don’t capture prisoners, they convert them, and the last thing Gnomon and his soldiers want is for the colours to be returned to Aggracore.
Inspired by a group of Dorset teenagers, Pulford wrote and illustrated this children’s/teenage fantasy novel in 11 weeks between October-December 2005.
It took a while to get it into print and was published in paperback in 2007 by her publishing company, Pulford Paperbacks.
Although it was the first novel to be put into print, it was the third one Pulford had written.
Only 500 copies exist of the first, and only edition of this book, so it is a rare collector’s item.
