Background
Anchovy Tree Is Pulford’s second novel and took around 15 years to get into print after she scribbled it down (yes with pen and paper) in about six weeks.
The comedy caper explores what happens when a mother gives birth and discovers she doesn’t have any maternal instincts.
It’s bizarre, raunchy, hilarious in places, poignant in others. Anchovy Tree is a mixture of the outrageous and slightly insane.
Some have queried Pulford’s sanity after reading the book – all she says in explanation is that her imagination happens to be more like a firework than a flower.
“I wanted to make people laugh and sometimes you have to go a bit ‘off the wall’ to complete something original.”
